This fineness and consistency reflects directly in the yarn, roving's and finished products that they produce. When you purchase yarn or finished product from Twisted Sisters Mill you can be assured that it is not only WARM and SOFT, but top quality as well.
Alpaca Fleece is the natural fibre harvested from an alpaca. It is light or heavy in weight, depending on how it is spun. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre. While similar to sheep's wool, it is warmer, not prickly and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca is naturally water repellant and difficult to ignite.
There are two types of alpacas, Huacaya - grows soft spongy fibre that has natural crimp, making it well-suited for knitting and crocheting. Suri - has high luster and no crimp, it is better suited for weaving.
